6th Grade Math - Interpreting Numeric Data

This post explains and gives practice opportunities related to TEKS 6.13A:

interpret numeric data summarized in dot plots, stem-and-leaf plots, histograms, and box plots
 

Instruction

Students revisit two forms of data representation they've already learned - line plots and stem-and-leaf plots.

Students are introduced to histograms, which look very similar to bar graphs.

Finally, box plots (sometimes known as box-and-whisker plots) show data in a brand new way.

 

STAAR Practice

Between 2016 and 2024 (including redesign practice), this supporting standard has been tested 15 times on the STAAR test. Videos explaining the problems can be found below.
