5th Grade Math - Dividing Unit Fractions and Whole Numbers with Models

This post explains and gives practice opportunities related to TEKS 5.3J:

represent division of a unit fraction by a whole number and the division of a whole number by a unit fraction such as 1/3 ÷ 7 and 7 ÷ 1/3 using objects and pictorial models, including area models
 

Instruction

Dividing fractions and whole numbers can be a tricky concept, as dividing by a fraction is the same as multiplying by a whole number. Pictorial representations help students understand the process.
